What are some advanced lab testing that is offered to help with hair and skin concerns?

There are many lab tests that can be done but at your one on one, I will decide which tests are important to do and in which order they should be done. The goal is not to overwhelm you with data, but to use it strategically to guide us in the right direction toward your path to complete and total wellness. Here are a few examples of some of the key laboratory exams that may be suggested at your visit. Basic Laboratory Panels · Thyroid dysfunction, anemia, fungal infections, vitamin deficiencies, and other issues can also lead to skin care problems, so it is important that we evaluate each patient with appropriate lab testing Food Sensitivity Panel · Food allergies and sensitivities are recognized to be correlated with many healthcare concerns. Most skin issues seem to be caused or made worse by trigger foods. With proper identification and elimination of offending foods, many patients experience relief from their symptoms Skin Scrapings (included in initial exam if in-person and deemed necessary) · Skin scrapings of any affected areas can help diagnose fungal infections and other dermatophyte infections. Woods Lamp Examination (included in initial exam if in-person and deemed necessary) · A Wood light (black light) can help diagnose and define the extent of skin lesions, and aid in the distinguish certain skin diseases such as vitiligo from other hypopigmented lesions Hormone Testing · Hormonal imbalance may be the exact reason why you have acne or other skin care problems. Hormonal changes trigger acne and make the skin worse. It is important to test your hormones to evaluate that they are at optimal levels. Micronutrient Testing · Micronutrient tests measure the function of 35 nutritional components including vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and amino acids within our white blood cells. Scientific evidence shows us that analyzing the white blood cells gives us the most accurate analysis of a body's deficiencies. Stool Testing · Stool tests are a way to identify and quantify the amounts of bacteria, virus, parasites and fungus in your stool. This test will help determine if there is an overgrowth of microbes such as candida and so much more. When we thoroughly assess the GI health we can get to the root cause of your skin disease. Adrenal Testing · Your adrenals are small glands that sit atop the kidney and make a variety of hormones. One of those hormones includes the “stress” hormone cortisol. Long periods of stress can cause adrenal fatigue or adrenal burnout. Symptoms include fatigue, dry skin, digestive problems, sleep disturbances, circulation issues and anxiety.
